MECLIPS / How to use
Person video tracking: from reference to finished clip
MeClips uses a reference photo to select video segments featuring your subject and combine them in their original order. This guide explains how to prepare your files, choose the framing and review the result.
1. Choose a recognizable reference photo
Start with a screenshot from the video you want to clip. A photo from another occasion may have different clothing, hair, lighting or camera angles, which can make matching harder.
Pick a clear moment with little obstruction. Frame the reference around your subject while preserving distinctive clothing, hair or body details. Crop other people out of the reference before uploading it.
2. Upload and generate in one click
Sign in with an email verification code, then upload your video and reference photo. Supported videos are MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM and AVI; reference images are PNG or JPG / JPEG. Check the upload screen for the current file size limit.
Name your project so you can find it in My clips. You can keep the defaults: original aspect ratio and tracking crop off. Start generation, follow the progress in the project, then preview and download the result.
3. Choose full frame or tracking crop
Keep the full frame when the stage, other participants or setting matter. This selects time segments without intentionally zooming in on the subject.
Enable tracking crop to try to keep your subject centered and reduce other people in view. Cropping discards content at the edges; it does not erase people from an image. Framing may be limited when your subject is near an edge or overlaps with others.
| Setting | Full frame (default) | Tracking crop |
|---|---|---|
| Segments | Select appearances automatically | Select appearances automatically |
| Composition | Keep the whole scene | Move a rectangular crop with the person |
| Different aspect ratio | Add padding without discarding content | Crop to fit; edges may be lost |
| Best suited to | Preserving the stage and other participants | Focusing on one person with fewer others in view |
4. Set the aspect ratio, resolution and sound
The original aspect ratio is the default. You can also choose 9:16, 16:9 or 1:1. With tracking crop off, a different ratio adds padding to keep the full frame. With tracking crop on, the crop follows the chosen ratio.
Export as MP4 at 720p or 1080p, with optional original audio. A higher export resolution cannot recover detail missing from the source. Videos without an audio track still produce silent clips.
5. Review the subject, segments and framing
Check where the person enters or leaves the shot, moments before and after an obstruction, and scenes with similarly dressed people. If cropping is enabled, also check movement close to the frame edges.
Automatic matching may miss moments or select the wrong person; it cannot guarantee every appearance. If no reliable match is found, try a clearer reference with less surrounding content. Turn tracking crop off if preserving the scene is more important.
6. Manage uploads and output
Projects require the owning account to sign in. Videos are uploaded to the server for processing, and images examined during analysis may be sent to the configured AI model service. Only upload material you have the right to use and process.
Finishing a job does not automatically delete the source upload. Deleting a project cleans up its media, output and job files. Save any downloads you want to keep first.
